Multicultural Education

Music Curricular Program

Music education at Cambridge School is necessary to complement various types of intelligences that humans possess. According to Howard Gardner, a psychologist and researcher at Harvard University said, humans possess several types of intelligence. One type is the musical intelligence. Studying music helps to increase other intelligences such as mathematical logic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, and kinesthetic.

Students participate in a variety of ensembles such as choir, orchestra or band. They attend one hour a week to their kind of music. If students are interested in improving their technique and master the art of music, it is recommended to continue their artistic training at the afterschool program of music.

Learning French at Junior High School

The school offers the opportunity to learn a third language at the beginning of junior high. We work with Alliance Francaise, which is responsible for teaching the French language classes . At the end of the ninth grade, students must take the DELF Exam (Diploma of French Language Studies ) where language proficiency is determined.

Advance Pedagogical Awareness

This department was created to facilitate the process of teaching and learning in which specialized psychologists observe the interaction between students and teachers. Therefore deficiencies should be detected in order to achieve better practices in our teaching process. This department organizes conferences for parents with different topics.

Values and Global Citizenship

Although our society has changed radically, in our school we insist on the permanence of values. We aim to develop critical and responsible thinking in our students. We have social programs that aid vulnerable sectors of our society. For example, we have worked with shelter homes, public schools and the International Red Cross.

Some activities we have done to contribute vulnerable groups are:

  • Money collecting for the International Red Cross.
  • Visit shelter homes and give Christmas gifts to a certain group of children.
  • Monthly values activities for parents and students.
  • Awareness with natural resources through recycling campaigns.

Physical Education

The importance of caring for our body is essential for students life. In our academic program, students must develop their physical abilities to help a better performance in academic activities. Therefore they actively participate during two hours a week in this class.

Students can learn, play and have fun through afterschool sports program. Basketball, soccer, and tae kwon do are promoted during these classes, in order, to stimulate participation at our school sport teams.

International Program

Globalization is an issue that over the past decade has increased exponentially due to technological and communication innovations. It is important that students have opportunities to know what happens in other parts of the world and learn from different cultures.

In recent years the school has organized trips to different countries like USA, Canada and England. Students have participated in the British English Olympics (BEO) in England. In addition students from the afterschool music program have traveled to musical summer camps at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. Another trip we promote is the Quebec summer camp (Canada) where students practice and reinforce the French language.

Our school sport teams participate in national and international tournaments. Students in soccer teams have attended Laredo Heat Tournament and some basketball teams have participated at Saltillo Albatros Cup (Coahuila).
